Here is the summary of ideas written in class:

There is a link between capitalism and trade VS aid because most of the poor countries are dictatorships and capitalism is a way to fight against it.

There is a link between capitalism and monopoly powers because richer companies have most of the power, leading to underdevelopment in poor countries and over-development in rich countries.

Exploitation and poverty are linked because rich countries make benefits from the poor countries thanks to low wages. The low wages do not help the poor have better living conditions.

Technology, internet and communication are linked – we can share and buy things thanks to online websites. We can extend our economy globally.

Technology, internet and terrorism are linked – internet is the easiest way to broadcast ideas to a global audience.

Culture and the internet are linked – thanks to the internet we can share our culture. Nevertheless this can lead to some cultures disappearing or being undervalued.

Accountability and the environment – companies should be held accountable to improve their environmental footprint, but often are not.

Here is the summary we wrote together:

This speech is a video of a speech given by Senator Barack Obama in 2008, before the Presidential elections. He talks about globalization in a positive way. He talks about the what has allowed globalization to advance. He talks about technology and communication, the collapse of the Soviet Union and capitalism as positive advancements.
There are many consequences, one being emerging countries which are a challenge to America. Another consequence of globalization is immigration.
He finished his speech saying tht he had no doubt that America can compete and succeed in the 21st century.
